AUP Students Welcomingly but Hesitantly Return to In-Person Classes

By

Nuances aside, the general consensus among AUP students interviewed for this article is that they’ve welcomed the return of in-person classes, which has been a long time coming. Over a year ago, on January 24, 2020, France recorded its first COVID-19 case. Not long after, a nation-wide lockdown followed that led to the closure of shops, supermarkets, public institutions, and academic entities, AUP included. As a result, education became completely remote for almost two semesters. In-person classes were partially re-introduced in Fall 2020, and again now, in Spring 2021.

Is Graduate School For You?

By

The beauty of an undergraduate liberal arts education is that a student can be exposed to many different fields of study and be able to interact with people from all walks of life. This versatility, however, has rendered it difficult for some graduates to find work directly after graduation. Despite a diverse educational background, graduate school seems to be presented as the only option for some graduates.

Architectural Disgust

By

What does it mean for a building to be musical in its design? According to renowned architect Christian de Portzamparc, it means a lot of concrete, mismatched windows and no color. Named for the famous French pianist and modern composer, the Erik Satie Conservatory (Le Conservatoire de Musqiue Erik-Satie) is more commonly recognized as one of the standout brutalist buildings in AUP’s neighborhood.

Why You Should Have a Dog in Your 20s

By

Having a dog in your early 20s is a life learning experience. I got my dog, Junior, almost seven years ago when I was still in high school. I had always dreamed of having a dog. However, at 15, I did not measure the responsibilities of having a little pup and consequently did not form any apprehensions beforehand. I trusted the universe that I would be able to care for this tiny animal. Since that day, my life has changed, and I couldn't be any happier, especially during a pandemic where we are all spending most of our time at home.

Wine Is Fine!

By

I am sure many of us growing up have seen the adults in our lives drink this peculiar grape beverage that to us may seem disgusting but to them a nice way to end the night. If you couldn't tell what this drink was, it's adult grape juice: better known as wine. As young adults, this concept of drinking alcohol can be new and exciting, but with this eagerness can come a lack of control and awareness of what you are drinking and how much of it.
