Pandemic Takes a Toll on Students’ Social Lives

By

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit a little over a year ago, public health experts and government officials mandated that we “socially distance.” The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as health officials,  were quick to jump in not too long after to clarify that we are to practice “physical,” not social, distancing, but it is clear that the time spent in isolation since the start of COVID-19  has taken a toll on the social lives of many, AUP members included.

When Life Gives You Lemons, Buy Lululemons?

2020 reminds me of at-home workouts and excessive online shopping. For many, learning yoga and completing online workouts provided an escape from being at home day after day. After completing half of the Insanity workouts one month into the first lockdown, I was one of the many who fell into the trap of ordering sportswear. From yoga mats to cute neon scrunchies, workout clothing became the desired fit.

Where Are They Now? Fernanda Sapiña

By

If you don't know the name Fernanda Sapiña, then you probably haven't been hanging out at AUP that long. She graduated in 2019 with a Global Communications major. In her time at AUP, she was the editor in chief of the Peacock Plume, an incredible advisor, involved in many clubs, and pretty much friends with everyone. You could always find her at the AMEX mentoring someone, laughing, or talking about life while smoking a cigarette. She guided many first-year students through their first days of the scary new city of Paris and the experience of living abroad.

Rediscovering Paris During COVID

By

It's been a year since we were confined and our social lives changed. Bars, clubs, restaurants, parties, museums, everything that was known to us is different. Even how we related to it, like our social lives, has changed. We've now seen spring, summer, autumn, and winter confined. As the new year continues in confinement, we've also experienced a little bit of spring again. However, things are starting to look up. And after all, we do live in the most beautiful city in the world. Here are some of my tips on how to enjoy Paris with our temporary, "new normal."

Although the general public often overlooks the concept of time within fashion by focusing more on designers and their work, Professor Caroline Evans sees the evolution of mankind and fashion through a different lens.

Shifting Priorities After a Year Living with Covid

By

It is now March 2021, and as we approach Covid’s birthday, I wondered how this year has changed people within the AUP community, for it has certainly changed me. I reached out to friends at AUP to ask them how this past year has altered their lives, and I feel so fortunate that they felt comfortable to share some very moving thoughts with me.

AUP Internship Starter Pack

I have been working remotely for the past 3 months and the experience has been eye opening. With the government of France declaring new restrictions amid fears of a third wave of COVID-19 last week, schools and essential shops, including bookstores, will remain open but we shall continue to work télé-travail.

A Royal Obsession

By

The royal family has forever been a global obsession. Individuals around the world, like myself, know minute aspects of their lives all the way from the lace detailing on Princess Diana's dress to the name of Prince Williams' youngest child. Being a family that lives in the public eye, it is not uncommon for common citizens to almost feel like we know them personally.
