As you all might be aware, the rap genre has been on the rise since the late 90s. Nowadays, almost everyone listens to rap. This democratization of the Hip-Hop/Rap scene has led to many different subcategories within the rap genre. Earlier hip-hop music has a distinguished tone with a relatively consistent theme of "hood politics". Many of the rappers in the late 90s and early 2000s took pride in activities such as dealing drugs, such as The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, and Jay-Z.
