By

With Easter weekend upon us, AUP students want to make the most of the upcoming holiday in Paris.

Rebecca Middleton, a sophomore international business major at AUP, plans to create new traditions away from family. “I’m probably going to go to the service at The American church with friends,” Middleton said.

The Flawed Perception of African Students in Ukraine

By

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022, the world has been exposed, again, to the realities of war. While the world has rightfully come together to support Ukrainians and the defense of their national sovereignty, it has proven strangely apathetic to the struggle of African students in their attempts to flee the country.

AUP World's Fair Returns

By

The AUP World's Fair is returning to campus next week, where members of the AUP community have the opportunity to share foods representing their diverse cultural backgrounds with their peers. The event is being held for the first time in three years due to the recent easing of Covid restrictions and planned to coincide with AUP’s 60th anniversary celebration.

As a result of its long absence, this will be most students’ first opportunity to participate in the World’s Fair.

Women's History Month at AUP

By

History is made up of brave women who have fought for the right to live a life free from violence and discrimination, and to enjoy the same things that have been available to men for decades; to be educated and to earn an equal wage. In 1977 it was decided by the United Nations that these efforts should be recognized by creating International Women’s Day on March 8th. Ten years later, after much petitioning from feminist groups in the United States, the entire month of March has been designated as Women’s History Month.

The Return to the Movies

By

With big blockbuster movies like The Batman, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Avatar 2 coming out this year, crowds are beginning to flock back to the movies after a stark pre-pandemic decline.

While the theaters have been closed, streaming services largely took their place as the premier spot to watch a new film, creating a monopoly on the industry and a safe haven from the coronavirus.

How is AUP supporting its students with disabilities?

By

In its almost 60 years of existence, AUP has never had an accessibility representative. For students with disabilities, this can lead to an ableist environment and impair certain aspects of daily life for them.

“I’ve had to withdraw from a class before because the Passage Landrieu building is not wheelchair accessible, and I can’t go to the new Monttessuy building. It’s definitely isolating,” said John Velez, an AUP sophomore.

While many students chose to attend the American University of Paris for its prime location in the largest city in France, visiting students are using their weekends to travel outside of Paris and explore new cities.

Mackenzie Lyons, a visiting student from The George Washington University, has plans to travel to at least five different countries for upcoming weekend trips this spring semester.
