When did the world lose its sense of humor? Every week I see more and more articles about the thought police trying to silence someone they disagree with or getting mad over a person for criticizing something they care about. The open debate of all ideas, especially the uncomfortable ones, is fundamental to a functioning public sphere, and the attempt by some to try to censor certain speech is in direct opposition to that.
Paris/Atlantic is one of many student-run mediums at the American University of Paris, focusing on both textual and visual creative pieces. The scholarly journal is published once a year during the spring semester. In each edition, AUP students and faculty, as well as contributors outside of AUP, are encouraged to submit creative works, whether that be through photography and art, screenplays and lyrics, poetry, essays, codes, and anything else that's been tucked away and is ready to make an appearance.

A round table on the book Beyond the Archive: Memory, Narrative, and the Autobiographical Process, written by Jens Brockmeier, a professor of American University of Paris, took place on Friday, Nov. 6th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Université Paris Diderot. Wine and cheese were provided for free.

After decades of struggle, Hugh Hefner has made the radical decision to eliminate full nudity from his print magazine in an effort to reinstate its cultural relevance. The print magazine will still feature partly-nude women, but it also will return to roots with a stronger journalistic focus.
Located in the third arrondissement of Paris, you can find a cosy café that offers not only delicious food but also the company of a dozen felines. When you first walk into Le Café des Chats, you'll have to enter quickly, as the mischievous cats are sometimes tempted to run out of the café. After entering, you will be told the general rules of the cafe in order to respect the cats, as the café is not a place where these cats are temporarily kept, but their home.
It’s been a year since Parisian pit boss, Thomas Abramowicz, opened the first authentic smokehouse in Paris. Today, he is the undisputed barbecue king of France. His restaurant, The Beast, refers to Abramowicz's massive six-square meter, two-ton, oak-fired smoker. The included menu items would make any Texan feel at home: beef brisket, baby back ribs, pulled pork and barbecued chicken are just some of the specialties. Desserts include Southern delicacies such as pecan and key lime pie.
