Budgets, Announcements and Merchandise Selection

The Student Government meeting on Feb. 11 opened with a major policy update. A new €300 cap on club budget requests was announced, marking a shift in how funding will be distributed. The change is intended to help manage limited funds and ensure more balanced support across student organizations. Alongside this update, the meeting covered campus announcements, club budgets, merchandise plans and time for students to speak during open forum.

The AUP Library team shared several updates. They spoke about the feedback system for library services and resources. Students are encouraged to share input. They also reminded everyone that if a student cannot find a specific article or academic source, the library staff will help locate it. The library is now moving to the third floor of the main building, previously the ACE space. ACE has moved to 129 rue de l'Université. The library’s main goal remains supporting student learning and academic success. Two new academic resources were highlighted. PressReader provides access to newspapers and magazines from around the world. The Taylor and Francis Journal Education database offers academic journals for research and coursework.

The Merchandise Committee provided an update on this semester’s selections and budget. The chosen items are burgundy quarter zip sweaters, stickers and sweatpants. More information about availability will be shared later.

Students were reminded of upcoming events. Townhall will take place on Feb. 12 in H Room Q011 from 12:10 pm to 3:00 pm. The President’s Round Table is scheduled for next Thursday, with the room still to be confirmed.

The Activities and Clubs Committee then reviewed funding. They outlined allocated funds and the remaining budget for the semester.

Several clubs received approval for their semester budgets. Adventure Club and Boxing Club both had previously tabled requests approved. Bread of Life was granted 225 euros. FCCA, the Finance Case and Competition Association, a new club, received approval for 535 euros. Majors Fair was approved for 500 euros. Oui the People, the AUP French club, was granted 220 euros. The Volleyball Team received approval for 929.50 euros. These funds support each group’s planned semester activities which include things like social events, dinners, tickets, and more, as outlined in their proposals.

Peacock requested 4,075.75 euros for the semester. The request was tabled until next week. This delay follows SGA proticol which requires a one week break period for any request over 1,500 euros. The tabling is a standard procedural step rather than a rejection.

The meeting concluded with an open forum. Students were invited to raise additional topics and concerns. Overall, the session focused on budget oversight, campus updates and planning for the semester ahead.
