Ice Skating on the Eiffel Tower is as Crazy as it Sounds

An Ice Rink on the World's Most Famous Monument? Sure.

Winter in Paris brings many fun activities, to distract you from the awful weather and short days. You may feel elegant taking promenades through Christmas markets with the back drop of glamorous snowflake lights and going on Ferris wheel rides, but figure skating on the Eiffel Tower with a hot cup of spiced wine is where it’s at.

There are other “pop-up” skating rinks around Paris, such as the Champs Elysées and Trocadéro, which have closed this past week, but the rink at the Hotel De Ville stays open until March. However, skating the city's most iconic monument for only 8€ is more surreal than coming to Paris for the first time. The skating rink on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower gives ample opportunity to take in the view of the city below, giving you one of those “Wow, I’m really here” moments, where you smile and give yourself a metaphorical pat on the back.

Until February 16th, you can skate, slip and glide until 10:30 pm on the first level of the Eiffel Tower.

And that’s just what AUP did.

You don’t have to be a pro either, the skate rental even offers metal trainers.

So strap on your boots, grab a friend (and a glass of hot wine) and remember why you decided to go to college in Paris.
