The virtuosic New Circus of Vietnam comes to Paris on March 29th.

The New Vietnamese Circus presents a stunning show of picturesque folklore in Làng Tô and À Ô ng Phô at the Grande Halle de La Villette, from March 29 to April 17.

The group of fourteen acrobats and five musicians from the National Circus of Vietnam transforms the stage into a Far-East fairytale. The show opens with Làng Tô (my village) beginning with the atmosphere of an early morning with the calming sound of birds. Asian motifs bring tranquility, while the stage is continuously in metamorphosis. The artist's deft and illusionistic tricks create ephemeral huts, rafts, nets, support bridges and more with the simple help of bamboo sticks and pleated baskets. Meanwhile, the acrobats and dancers playfully introduce viewers to the main features of their culture. The flute's melody in Làng Tô is followed by dynamic electro rhythm in À Ô ng Phô, where acrobats perform extraordinary feats of balance and oriental choreography.

There are three main creators behind The New Vietnamese Circus: two brothers, Nhat Ly and Lan Maurice Nguyen, the owner of a production company in Vietnam and the art director of Arc en Cirque respectively, and Le Tuan Anh, who works at the Cirque du Soleil in Germany and Canada. The set of the show was influenced by different cultural traditions including Chinese, French, and Russian. There is no use of animals or extravagant effects, but an oriental sophistication with dazzling spectacle.

After achieving success with extraordinary and innovative shows in 2009 and 2013, the New Vietnamese Circus is currently traveling in France, but will finish their world tour in December 2016. Don't miss the renowned troup in Paris during their two-week performance and the opportunity to learn more about Vietnamese culture.

As Le Tuan Anh says, the team's goal is to truly represent “the heart, the spirit, the energy and the ideas of the young people in Vietnam today.”
