Paris May Preview

Your May guide to all the musts in Paris.

School is over, and if you plan to stay in Paris for a while this month, you're gonna have a lot of things to do around the city. With the nice weather and the free time are here to stay, for four months at least, so these are the activities you can do to enjoy the city. 

1. Taste of Paris Festival

May 17 to 20, 2018

Starting in 2015, this annual festival is a gastronomic feast you can't miss. Gathering great French and international chefs in the Grand Palais, this is the opportunity to try food from the best restaurants of the city. Tty to get your ticket ahead of time and top up your Taste of Paris card to enjoy a day of fine eating. 

2. European museums night

May 19, 2018

La Nuite Européenne des Musées is a day when museums stay open late and a lot of special events are planned in Paris. It is a really nice opportunity to discover Paris' culture while enjoying concerts, fun events and free entrance to museums. Try to buy a ticket in advance on the website. 

3. Rolland Garros, French Open

May 21 to June 10, 2018

The French Open, or the Rolland Garros tournament is one of the most famous tennis events and it takes place every spring in May. This year's tournament will go from May 21 to June 10, it takes place at the Rolland Garros Stade. Try to book your tickets in advance before they run out! 

4. Saint Germain des Près dance festival

May 24 to June 4, 2018

Founded in 2001, and celebrating the Saint Germain des Près being the homeland of Jazz in France, the 18th edition of the festival is going to be amazing. Try to check out the schedule for concerts and events taking place in the most historic cafes, places, and theaters of the neighborhood. 

5. Printemps des rues- street art festival

May 25 to 27, 2018

This festival happens annually, celebrating the street art performances along Canal Saint Martin and through the 10th arrondissement. The celebration of art and wonderful atmosphere makes a really cool way to spend your weekend. 

6. Teamlab : au-delà des limites 

May 15 to September 9, 2018

The Grande Halle de La Villete is transforming into a "living digital organism". Visitors will be able to walk around within 360º images that respond to their movements. This exhibition is going to be both interactive and immersive it is the first of its monographic exhibition for Teamlab. Which is a Japanese collective that promises many wonderful surprises. This innovative exhibition mixes both art and digital technology. The tickets can be bought online.

7. U.A. M. Une Aventure Moderne (1929-1958)

May 30 to August 27, 2018 

This exhibition focuses on one of the biggest art movements of the 20th century: the Union of Modern Artists (U.A.M). It brings together artists from a variety of disciplines and among the artists are Le Corbusier and Sonia Delaunay, this association advocated for a radical break with traditional artistic values.

8. Rooftop, outdoor bars.

The best thing about may is the nice weather and with it the many bar-boats, terraces, and rooftops. Among the most popular is The Perchoir in the Marais, which has a beautiful panoramic view of the city.  Wanderlust which is a deck next to the river with really nice music, food, and drinks and Faust which is also next to the river. 

9. Parks

Another great part about May's weather is that going to a park is a really good plan you can make. From making a picnic on the gardens to just taking a book to read, parks like Luxembourg, Champs de Mars, Invalides and Les Tuileries are ideal.
