So much wine, so little time.

Salons des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants graced the wine lovers of Paris this November, and we were all excited (at least I was). I was able to go on the first day of the wine expo to experience and get a feel for what it was. I knew was that there was going to be a lot of wine and that I was going to be able to drink it, but besides that I had no idea what to expect. Below is my experience of the event.

Some Sublime Wine in No Time

My friends and I walk in with our tickets in hand, prepared to take on this wine expo, only to be attacked by an overwhelming amount of wine. There were multiple lanes of wine from every region imaginable. There also didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the order whatsoever. The lanes weren't organized by types of wine or regions, and our only guide seemed to be a huge chart that had a list of all the vendors that were there. We had no idea what we were doing, and had no idea where to even start. In the end we decided to just jump in and hope for the best.

Fake It Until You Make It

The first ten minutes was of us just trying to get up the nerve to approach a stand, because everyone seemed to know what they were doing. In the end we decided to just fake it and act like we knew what we were doing and that we were interested in buying wine. This seemed to work out pretty well for us. We were able to try from about twenty different wine vendors, and actually got a lot of information about the different wines each vendor produced.

In the end I walked out of Salons des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants knowing more about wine than I ever thought I would, two bottles of wine, and a pretty good wine buzz. I enjoyed it so much that I went back again the next day for round two.
