What not to miss on your trip to Prague.

Prague is a city you really must czech out!

Walking around Prague, only a fool would not notice the strict, almost reserved nature of the pre-communist country.

This city should most definitely be visited in autumn or winter. That way you really get the spirit of the medieval period, which you sense walking along Charles Bridge at night while the overpowering statues create haunting shadows over the cobblestone walkway.

Where to stay?

I recommend renting an Airbnb when visiting Prague. Not only is Prague really cheap but you will get a better deal renting a cute apartment in the center, especially if there are two of you (ideal for places like the apartment below). It gives you the possibility to buy a tasty bottle of Czech wine for the equivalent of 2€ and make yourself an apperitif before czeching out the night life. I would suggest Anna's apartment. I stayed there myself with my friend and for 57€ a night you get a big, modern apartment all to yourself, fully equipped with a terrace (Hello, smokers!), in the center of Prague, right next to a metro stop (Narodni Trida that goes directly to airport). Anna is a fantastic host who gives great recommendations and is always reachable if you have any questions.

Where to eat?

Somewhere casual:

1. Portrefena Husa-Narodni Trida: Traditional restaurant, has the best chocolate fondants with homemade pistachio ice cream and serves great beer.

2. Café Café: Located in the heart of the old town/best traditional Czech deserts but has modern Czech food.

3. Café Louvre: Serves traditional food, try their spinach bake for those who want a scrumptious vegetarian dish, or their curry rabbit and local rice for those who like novelty.

Somewhere Special:

1. Oblaca: Is on the top floor of the tower overlooking Prague city.

2. Kampa park restaurant: Overlooks the Charles Bridge and is situated right by the water.

3. Villa Richter-Piano Terra: Is situated on a vineyard overlooking the vines.

Best breakfast in Prague:

1. Café Savoy: Situated by the river this dining room with high ceilings and old rennaissance style decoration create a wide variation of breads and pasteries in their own kitchen.

What to visit?

1. Prague Castle and its surroundings: Expect to take a whole afternoon off for this.

2. Jewish quarter/museum: An old village with lots of ancient Jewish architecture and artwork

3. Old Town: Visit the clock tower and main square

4. Charles Bridge: Seeing this by night is a must

Walk around Narodni Tridna if you want to feel like a local. Not only is there great shopping but you can also stop past and see the spectacular giant metallic head by Czech artist Franz Kafka.

How to get around ?

Metro or Tram is the cheapest and most effective way to get around the city. Remember Prague isn't big, so just get on the metro.

What not to miss?

1. Prague Beer Museum: Be prepared for a big night!

The Czech Republic's lagers are celebrated around the world and its citizens consume more beer per head than any other country.

2. How about a beer bath? Sound enticing...

Beer spa is one of the most popular kinds of spa since the Middle Ages. It is a very old and unique type of therapy where only organic ingredients essential for beer production such as hops, yeast and other natural substances are used. Not only is it supposed to be excellent for the skin but it also has great effects on the body's muscular system, great for those who practice a lot of sports. Since people tend to visit Prague in the wintertime, why not warm up in a beer bath and enjoy a refreshing beer on your own (to recuperate) or with your close ones (for a good laugh).
