A French photographer travels all over the world to discover the most abandoned places in Europe.

French photographer, Jon Quille (aka Jonk), has opened his photo exposition, Le Monde Perdu, at the Mairie du 20ème in Paris. On Thursday, February 11th, there will be a vernissage from 4 PM – 7:30 PM with the opportunity to meet Jonk himself.

Jonk has spent two years discovering abandoned places from England to Ukraine. Many of these places are located on private property, which makes it difficult and sometimes dangerous to capture.

...

Jonk says that he travels all over Europe not just to find abandoned places to broaden his mind. He makes a point to not retouch his pictures saying, "Yes, it makes less impressive pictures, but it makes them stay much more natural and this is what I like.”

These photos tell the story of worlds once full of life that have been left behind as a memory of what once was. They capture the phenomenon that is time. In these forgotten places he says we can see how with the passage of time nature takes back its rights and "creates a poetry and a very particular soul.”

The exposition will run until February 26th and you can check out more of his work on FacebookFlickr, and Instagram.
