Is AUP Sold(es)?

Take our poll! We're on the hunt to find out how much AUP students are indulging in Soldes this sale season.

It's that time of year again! The long awaited biannual sale, better known as Soldes, is sweeping across France—and is basically out to empty our wallets once again. With a student body like no other, we at the Peacock Plume want to see how AUP does soldes. Fill out the poll below to show how 'sold' AUP actually is! Don't worry, it's anonymous, your parents won't find out (they probably will find out).

What are the Soldes?

If you've been living under a rock during your stay in Paris, you might not know what soldes actually is. Here we go: soldes is sent from the heavens of the government of France to allow people the opportunity twice a year to actually afford the things they like, love, dream about, etc. For real, though, soldes is a government mandated sale period that occurs during the months of January-February and June-August. By law, stores can only mark down products that have been in their store for at least a month, which unfortunately means nothing extremely new will be on sale, but it does mean that you can finally buy that Zara sweater that everyone else probably already has! Woo!

Too lazy to go out?

Part of the beauty of soldes is that you don't even have to leave your house anymore! It is government mandated that the sale dates on a company's website must exactly match the sale dates of soldes regardless of where their headquarters are. So, hop on any of your favorite brands' websites and you're still bound to get a steal. Don't worry, we won't judge you. It IS soldes d'hiver...it's cold out there...

Have a soldes problem?

It's ok, no need to be ashamed. A lot of us have a soldes problem. If you really do have a serious problem, maybe cut up your Société Générale debit card. Or, an even better idea, you could always use that card to go hit up Saint Barthelemy where their soldes d'hiver doesn't even start until May! Be sure to check the map above to see when the exact sale dates are for the different parts of France. If you try really hard, I'm sure you can be living the soldes life year around—aka: the dream life.
