Corona Diaries: My Safe Birthday Celebration

How I celebrated my birthday while being self quarantined

Today is self-quarantine day 11 for me, 4 more days to go. I think the most unique experience I have had during this period is that I celebrated my birthday while being self-quarantine. I wouldn’t say it’s the best birthday I have ever had, but it is definitely a lot better than I thought it would be. This year, I get to celebrate my birthday with my entire family. I left home for college when I was 18 years old & I haven’t been able to do so for 5 years. To keep ourselves safe, meaning to prevent the spread of virus, we each stood at a corner in the living room and sang the happy birthday song with our masks on. Furthermore, instead of blowing the candle, I put the candle out with my hands. Many friends of mine with their birthdays coming up said that they really like the idea and will probably do the same.
