Environmentally friendly picks for the conscious consumer

Paris is known for Haute-Couture and designer brands but it is also a treasure trove for thrifters. For those that fast-fashion infuriates, here is a list of my favorite environmentally friendly thrift stores around the most fashionable city in the world.

Thanx God I’m a V.I.P

12 rue de Lancry, 75010 Paris

Since 2010, this exquisite boutique has housed an incredible collection of second-hand clothes. Each piece is unique and is curated by the stores owner, Sylvie Chateigner. While fashion fans and stylists from the big fashion houses frequent this store in search of inspiration, beautiful ready-to-wear is intertwined amongst the haute couture so there really is something for everyone! If you’re, a fashion fanatic and a thrifter at heart—this place is a dream come true.

Hippy Market

41 rue du Temple, 75004 Paris

A name which completely resembles the vibe, all four of the Hippy Markets in Paris are well-curated and organized by article. You can find a bunch of unique pieces here and given how much you have to choose from; it’s not hard to walk away with something you’ll love. Here, it is guaranteed that all of the clothes and accessories are unique, rich of history and a testament to accountable fashion culture. Make sure to check out the lower level as well for men’s fashion, the walls are lined with Americana vintage denim, biker jackets, and grunge outfits. Oh, and the best part—Students get a 10% discount with ID

Situated somewhere between the price range of Thanx God I’m a V.I.P and Kilo Shop is this luxe-vintage clothing store. Welcome to Chez Snow Bunny, where it is evident that all of the clothing on the racks draw inspiration from the looks of Fergie, Paris Hilton, and Gwen Stefani in the 2000s. If you are looking for vintage luxury pieces, this store is for you. From a Dior scarf and Gucci sunglasses to chunky plastic rings and crochet ski masks, the most unique and expressive pieces can be found at Chez Snow Bunny.

Kilo Shop

125 Bd Saint-Germain, 75006 Paris

This well-known secondhand store works off the concept of selling vintage men's or women's apparel and accessories by the kilogram. Rather than pricing each item individually, at Kilo Shop you weigh your items and the price is determined by the weight or color. It's a great niche! The store is part of a worldwide chain with locations in cities such as Amsterdam and London.  As a result, you can get some great deals on a wide range of pieces. Kilo Shop has multiple stores in Paris, including on Boulevard Montmartre and in the Marais district.

Kiliwatch Paris

64 Rue Tiquetonne, 75002 Paris

Kiliwatch Paris, a stylish Parisian thrift shop in the city's 2nd arrondissement, is housed in a minimalist, industrial building. Here you can browse for secondhand men's and women's streetwear that is more polished and elegant than in your typical thrift store, right in the heart of Paris. While the prices are a little higher here, you can discover some fantastic deals on designer items like Burberry trench coats and other designer vintage finds.
