AUP students' style reflects who they are, from their closet to what they leave the house with.

What's inside someone's closet or bag says a lot about their personality. Whether it be oversized sweaters, hoodies, and mom jeans in students' closets or sunglasses and lipstick inside a purse, everyone has different ideas of what necessities to bring for a day's outing, and what makes it from their shopping bags to their closet. Style is defined differently by everyone, but at a university in the fashion capital of the world, it remains a key part of students' personalities.

When asked about her personal style, Ghandour responded that it is "very simple. I like simple things. I don't like things that are too flashy or showy. I'm also very fond of the little, simple details, or more classy clothing." By looking through her closet full of rows of dresses, pants, skirts, shoes, and bags lined up along the shelves, it is obvious that she keeps up with the latest trends. "I like designers like Alexander McQueen, Sandro, Valentino, Alexander Wang, and Alaïa. My favorite thing from my closet would have to be my handbag from Phillipp Plein. It's white leather and has a sparkly skull on the front. I usually take it when going out for the night with my family or friends, or to a nice dinner!"

Frescobaldi's style is a bit more casual since he's always on the run. "I like comfortable yet fashionable clothing. I'm always on the move making films and taking photos. I'm constantly moving and traveling to create new content. It can be tough to go to work, sometimes not even sleeping due to moving around, so I need to be comfortable yet look my best." As he went through his closet, he pulled out mostly t-shirts and shoes. "I really like all things vintage, right now I am obsessed with the latest item I bought which is a '80s jacket from Levis." He also admits he really likes Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, although he doesn't like the newest collection from YSL. "They just changed the designer and I'm not a huge fan of the work. The last collection was better."

Mothersbaugh, being a fashion student from New York, has a more vintage style and gave her own opinion on the fashion industry: "Fashion is probably the most important thing to me. I love every aspect of it, but ultimately, if you don't look and feel like you portray who you are or want to be when you leave the house, you won't be happy or ready to take on the day. That's what draws me to the industry." Working at Free People, her closet mostly consists of items from the store. She pulls out a lot of vintage shoes and cream colored shirts and coats. "I really like Chloe, Acne Studios, Aleena Akhmadullina, and Bode. Some I wear, some I never do. I'm kind of a hoarder, but I'm selling a lot to clean my closet out. My absolute favorite thing in my closet is my Steamline Luggage suitcase. It's my baby."

"I don't really have a personal style, to be honest. I wear just about anything. I do like beach wear or summer looks and that's what I normally go for," Kabila remarked, remembering the beaches and warm weather of his hometown. In his closet, he has mostly jeans, shirts, and hats. "I really do like accessories like gloves, hats, caps, scarves, and stuff like that. I really like dark colors, especially blues and blacks." His favorite thing in his closet is his big, blue jacket from Moncler. "It's a really good brand for coats and jackets. It keeps me warm and I get cold easily, so I really like wearing that jacket during fall and winter."

Cook's style is mostly inspired by icons such as David Bowie, model Camilla Rowe, Emily Ratawosky's bohemian style, and YouTuber Tess Christine. One trend she currently indulges in is Gucci. "I know it's more of a brand than a trend, but lately I have been seeing Gucci and Gucci-inspired pieces everywhere. I love that it paves the way for a more 'out there' style." Her closet is filled with statement coats and many shirts and sweaters, all different colors. She starts pulling out shoes, taking out her favorite pair. "These are my black, platform heeled boots. They're my favorite thing in my closet right now. I love the blue and silver lightning stripe on the heel. I think they're super unique."

Everyone takes fashion risks, tries out a different style, or decides to take on the new trends that they see on Twitter or Instagram. Whether it be a bohemian style, classy chic, or vintage, being in Paris gives each person the confidence to take these risks. When looking in the mirror and feeling overdressed, remind yourself: you're in Paris!
