Alison Mosshart's Killer Rock Style

The Kills rocker is a stylish force to be reckoned with

Alison Mosshart is cooler than me, but I don't mind. Mosshart is cooler than cool itself. Messy, sexy and impossibly cool, her style is an ecstatic blend of modern grunge with modern chic sensibilities.

Mosshart is one half of Indie Rock group The Kills, along with Jamie Hince (aka Mr. Kate Moss) and formed super group The Dead Weather along with Jack White, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence. She has also collaborated with Alex Turner, Cage the Elephant and Placebo. So basically, she's an indie rock goddess—nay—Queen! And she has the style to match.

While not touring, Mosshart can likely be seen kicking it with cool kids across the world, or in the front row at a major fashion show.

No matter where she goes, her signature style remains intact: Skinny jeans, silk shirts, sweaters, leather jackets and ankle boots. I tend to think of her a modern-day Joan Jett, but at the same time, wonderfully unique.

Mosshart has admitted in the past that she avoids fashion magazines, but is an ardent supporter of her dear friend Hedi Slimane, who held the position of creative director for Dior Homme from 2000 to 2007 and creative director for Saint Laurent from 2012 till March 2016.

While touring Mosshart is known to repeat the same outfits for multiple gigs. In the Spring/Summer 2016 issue of Vs. magazine, Mosshart explained her style philosophy to journalist Justin Moran.

“If something catches my eye and I love it, then I live in it for years. I don’t have 50 pairs of shoes, but I definitely have 50 leather jackets,” she said.

Mosshart strides across stage with an air of reckless sexual power. She violently thrashes her long mane of constantly changing hair with an utter indifference I admire greatly. But due to her constant thrashing, Mosshart has stated she avoids any clothing or accessories that could sly off her on stage. This is why her minimalist rock n’ roll style into an effortlessly chic affair.

Another amazing element to Mosshart's grunge aesthetic is her magnificently wild hair, which often changes colour.

Beyond her clothing, hair, bangles and boots, Mosshart is incredible because of her energy. She has the confidence to pull off any look she wants, which is something we should all aspire to.

To get a better sense of Mosshart's coolness, watch this illuminating interview she has with bandmate Jamie Hince (Mr. Kate Moss).
