Everything We're Missing at Coachella

Life-changing performances and hippie-inspired outfits at the annual Coachella festival.

It’s that time of year again, when thousands travel to the California desert to watch life-changing performances and show off their hippie-inspired outfits at the annual Coachella festival.

While everybody at the famous festival are partying away to their favorite music artists, the rest of us are stuck to our phones and glued to Instagram and Snapchat just to get glimpses of what we’re missing. This year was no different from past  years at Coachella. After Beyonce dropped off the marquee (due to her pregnancy) the main headliners were Radiohead, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar.

Let’s go through a day-by-day run down of what music we missed over the first weekend.

Friday

Friday was the kick off. The Coachella festival in Palm Springs, California had five different stages for festival goers to choose from. The big acts Friday night included: The XX, Dillon Francis, Steve Angello, Banks, Sampha, Travis Scott and headlining the main stage was Radiohead. Below you can see a schedule of all the artists and where they were playing. Here’s a video of Travis Scott performing songs of his latest album, Birds in the Trap, at the Outdoor arena.

Unfortunately, Radiohead was experiencing some sound troubles earlier in the show, but they seemed to fix it throughout the performance. Here’s Radiohead performing Paranoid Android.

Saturday

After a crazy day of baking in the 90-degree California heat and partying the night at rented weekend houses close to the festival venue, festival goers were ready for day 2. The lineup included: Dj Snake, Schoolboy Q, Gucci Mane, Future, Nicolaas Jaar, and headlining the main stage was recent Lady Gaga.

In terms of the Instagram and Snapchat feeds over the weekend, Future and Gucci Mane stole the show from Lady Gaga. Gucci Mane, who was released from prison late last year was a huge act for Coachella this year. Festival goers were excited to see Gucci back in his element. He brought Rae Sremmurd to perform their number 1 Billboard-charting song “Black Beatles”. He also brought out Lil Yachty, and the king of the 90s Mr. Puff Daddy. You can see some of the footage from the Saturday show below, when Gucci brought out lil Yachty.

Sunday

Saturday was probably the most lit day for festival goers. Not only did they get to see acts such as Majid Jordan and Martin Garrix, they were blessed to see surprise acts from Diddy, Rae Sremmurd, lil Yachty, and Migos plus a full hour of Future. Leading up to Sunday festival goers got used to the constant partying and were ready for the final day of the festival. The big acts of the day were Justice, Kaytranada, Lil Uzi Vert, Dj Khaled and rocking the main stage was Kendrick Lamar.

Sunday was all about Kendrick, a California native closed the Coachella show. Kendrick just released his fourth studio album, Damn, earlier this week was all the hype that day. Not only did fans get to experience a run-through of Kendrick’s hits, they were treated to guest appearances from Travis Scott, Future, and Schoolboy Q.  You can see some clips from his performance below: Kendrick performing “God”.

So there you have it. We missed some rare performances and some major vibes, but not to worry, the show is not over. If you still want to go to Coachella, you can head to the desert for the second weekend of music.
