There are many breathtaking places outside the central area of Paris!

When coming to Paris as a tourist, leave its borders and discover some breath-taking places outside the city! Usually, tourists stick with the Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysees; however, there are many more interesting and entertaining destinations outside Paris. Nearby attractions include natural parks, medieval fortifications and more. Here are some the most fascinating attractions that are close to Paris:

1. Chateau de Versailles

The royal palace of Versailles is located in the small city of Versailles, just a 30 minutes drive from Paris. The palace was built in the 17th century and represents finer examples of French Baroque architecture. Chateau de Versailles has a museum inside the palace and a huge orangerie. The view of the orangerie is absolutely breathtaking as it includes over eight hundred hectares of land, landscaped and designed in the classical French garden style.

2. Claude Monet’s Gardens at Giverny

French impressionist painter, Claude Monet’s house with its private garden is an absolutely beautiful place to see, especially for those people who love garden decorations. Opened in 1980, Monet’s gardens include elaborate Japanese-style bridges, a variety of different species of flowers and trees, and colorful alleys. An ideal time to visit is during Spring or Summer. Transportation to Giverny is simple as it only 80 kilometers away from Paris and buses from the Saint-Lazare station offer direct service to the city.

3. Loire Valley

The Loire Valley is located in central France and is comprised of 800 square kilometers that includes chateaus, vineyards, fruit orchards, and etc. The valley includes historic notable chateaux, such as the Chateau d’Amboise, Chateau d’Azay-le-Rideau, Chateau de Chambord, Chateau du Rivau and others. These chateaux have attractive landscapes and detailed, expensive churches inside. Loire valley is in the list of UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
