How to make the best of your experience in a short amount of time ..

1. Visit Park Güell

It is the cliche for most tourists going to Barcelona to go to Park Güell, however it is completely worth it. The park is extremely beautiful and gives a fantastic view of the city. Most of Gaudi’s work is easy to see from the street so there is not a need to go each and every one but the park can’t real be experienced from the outside like his building so definitely try and see it.

There is an €8 entry fee.

2.  Go to the beach

Even if you go during winter being by the beach is worth it. Especially at sunset.

3. Take a stroll through the Gothic Quarter

Just walking around in this area is insane.  The architecture combined with the general vibe is such a cool experience.  They also have a ton of shops and restaurants around for you to enjoy.  Make sure to go into the vintage shops around there as well, you won’t only find amazing stuff but it is also such a cool experience to shop to shop in them!

4. Watch a football match

Football (or soccer if your American) is huge in Spain and it is such a joy to watch there.  Even if you can’t make it to the Camp Nou just go to a bar and watch it with some fans, it is an experience you won’t forget.  Matches are played during the weekend so it won’t be hard to find a bar playing a match while you walk around the city.

5. Go dancing.

Barcelona has tons of clubs for you to go dancing and even cooler places to both watch and learn how to flamenco dance.  It is extremely fun and the nightlife there is amazing.  Most of these places are also in the Gothic Quarter.

Here are some extra tips for your trip to Barcelona:

  • If you are going for the weekend make sure to buy a 3 day metro pass it ends up being cheaper and it gets you where you need to go relatively easy.

  • The metro also closes at 2.30 am on weekends.

  • Pick-pocketing is a huge problem in Barcelona, so make sure to be aware of your surroundings and keep your bags close to you when you are in touristy areas.

A weekend may seem like a short time to experience a city but once you plan where your going ahead of time and experience the best parts the city has to offer your good to go! Head to the city center, drink sangria and enjoy every minute!
