If the increasingly cold weather and cloudy skies have started to put a damper on your days, watch these five films to remind you that you're lucky to live in Paris.

When the honeymoon phase is over and you've had more than your fill of baguettes and croissants, these films will help you rediscover the magic of living in Paris.

1.  Breathless (1960)

Jean-Luc Godard's New Wave classic is about the relationship between a wandering French criminal and his American student girlfriend.

3.  Before Sunset (2004)

This film is the second of director Richard Linklater’s “Before” trilogy. Before Sunset is about a French girl and an American writer who meet on a train and spend a romantic day together in Vienna. Nine years later, the couple meets again—this time at Jesse’s (Ethan Hawke) book reading at Shakespeare and Company.

4. Gigi (1958)

Set at the turn of the century, the Oscar-winning 1958 musical Gigi tells the story of wealthy playboy Gaston who falls in love with the film's namesake, the vivacious and very young Gigi. If French is not yet your forte, Gigi features some of France's greatest actors (Maurice Chevalier, Louis Jourdan, Leslie Caron) in this English-speaking movie.

5. Amélie (2001)

Amélie is the story of a quirky and imaginative young waitress who makes it her mission to subtly change the lives of the people around her. Even if you've already seen this film, it's worth watching again. Paris has never been weirder or more magical than it is through Jean-Pierre Jeunet's lense.
