Ivanka Trump: But Her Emails

The Plume intercepts a carrier pigeon's message from Hillary Clinton to Ivanka Trump.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of and White House advisor to President Donald Trump, faces massive scrutiny for emails she sent from a personal address about official matters during the beginning of her father's presidency. No stranger to past email scandal, Ms. Trump seems to have fallen into the same trap as former Secretary of State and Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton whose private email server was hotly debated during the 2016 presidential elections.

While the content and nature of Ms. Trump's emails differ from Clinton's as Clinton communicated top-secret information in a total of 22 emails,  Ms. Trump's excuse that she was "was not familiar with some details of the rules" when questioned by White House aides her about the startling volume of emails sent by a personal account is, as CNN political commentator Chris Cillizza puts it, "ridiculous."

Acting as a spokesperson for Ms. Trump's ethics lawyer Abbe Lowell, Peter Mirijanian says that "before entering into government service, Ms. Trump used a private email. When she entered the government, she was given a government email account for official use. While transitioning into government, until the White House  provided her the same guidance they had to others who started before she did, Ms. Trump sometimes used her private account, almost always for logistics and scheduling concerning her family." Sorry, Mr. Mirijanian, after months of her father's attacks on Clinton's email use, one might presume that she knew better than to correspond with other politicians using her personal email.

Last night, the AUP Student Media's pet peacock intercepted a carrier pigeon intended for Ivanka Trump from a cautious Hillary Clinton, hesitant to use email communications. The brief message reads:

Dear Ms. Trump,

I seem to recall your father encouraging chants of "Lock her up, lock her up!" about my own private email scandal. A piece of advice: don't claim you didn't know better, Ivanka. As you will soon discover, you're not above the law any more than I was.

Cheers!
