When we hear the term ‘drones,’ we instantly think of militaries and special forces because they are the ones utilizing drones during their missions. It is true, drones were initially created to serve the military to help ease their work by providing bird's eye view footage. Whether in real life, movies or games, we have all seen drones and we know their exact purpose within the military. Recently, the use of privately owned drones has surged and it is difficult to ignore the increasing interest in drone technology.

Drones are being sold online and in electronic stores, which has made it possible for everyone to buy them. You buy one, install it, learn how to use it and fly it; It is now that easy for the average civilian to own a drone that was once only designated for military purposes. Owning a drone has become a trend all around the world. Many fly drones just for fun and for capturing footage from above.  The number of drones being sold is increasing every day, especially in the U.S. People utilize them to film their experiences and they are flown everywhere without any rules or usage policy.

Yet, what many do not know is that flying drones can be very dangerous when they are flown in inappropriate places, such as airports. They can cause problems for airports if flown too close, as the central radar detects everything flying in the air. That can be very problematic for other planes trying to land. Radar centers have more than once detected drones in the air and had to warn the incoming plane to stay up and not to land until it is clarified what is circulating in the air.

Dubai and Sharjah airports have recently banned drones to be flown around the airspace. It was reported that more than one time operation were suspended and postponed in Dubai airport due to unauthorized drone intrusion. The closures were of course temporary, but a simple drone causing this is not a small problem. Now, they have to be used far from the city crowds where they cannot do any harm.

We can imagine what would/could happen if one of those drones come in contact with an actual plane or even helicopter; the results would be tragic. Videos are being created to show the world how serious and dangerous this is. An extract from a British television series “Casualty” was taken and used to show what a drone can cause if used in inappropriate places. As you can see, the video is an exaggeration, but this can happen in real life too.

Drones which were run only by military once are now being used by kids and teenagers who have no idea what kind of danger they are posing.

Safety is of course everyone’s top priority, but drones can sometimes pose danger and break those safety bars easily. They can also be sources of danger for military. Military bases are probably the most restricted areas where ordinary people cannot enter and flying drones close to military bases have also caused problems. They were shot down because they were interpreted as threats and spies, whereas they were only drones flown for fun by ordinary people. This has more than once happened.

An unexpected but interesting method is that now eagles are being trained to take down unauthorized drones in the airspace. Police and companies have started training them to catch drones and hit them in the propeller and crush them down. This is of course for public zones with no military where drones are not authorized to be flown, as obviously militaries would use other methods such as shooting drones down.

The other problem of drones is that they allow people to spy on others, which is completely illegal. They are used to for theft and smuggling and following children which facilitates the bad-hearted people to carry out their crimes more easily. What is already a messy and dangerous situation is now creepier than ever; drones have made this world a more dangerous place. It is no surprise that humans are the most nosy creatures and want to know what others around them do. Many couples have used drones to either follow their husbands or wives, boyfriends or girlfriends in order to know where they are going and what they are doing. The drones follow from the air and, unless you are very cautious and careful, it is very difficult to realize them, as they have almost no sound when in the air. This has caused couples to break up, either for not trusting each other or for having found an affair, thanks to drones.

You are now thinking about your relationship with your partner, aren’t you!? Be careful and don’t be so confident that your partner cannot spy on you; it takes only one drone to follow you to see what you are doing.  Spying has never been easier than this. People buy drones, fly them and spy on whoever they want. It is a complete violation of human rights and privacy, but these drones are still available in the market for people to buy as easily as buying books.
