Paris Kicks Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Pink Eiffel Tower

Tonight, la vie really is going to be in rose. To kickoff Breast Cancer Awareness month, the French association, Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-En will be launching their 26th edition of Pink October by lighting the Eiffel Tower in pink.

Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-En! is a French organization built around raising awareness and support for breast cancer research. As reported on breastcancer.org, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. A life threatening disease, breast cancer affects millions every year. Recently, there has been a heightened popularity around raising awareness for breast cancer. Yet, Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-En! has been active since 1994.

In 1994, Estée Lauder Companies and Marie Claire first came together to join forces against breast cancer. Even though the organization plans multiple events throughout each year, Pink October is the group's most popular initiative.

Located in over 100 countries worldwide, Estée Lauder Companies is well-known as a leading skin care and beauty product company. Likewise, Marie Claire magazine has established itself in 34 countries and remains dedicated to improving the lives of women by illuminating issues that most concern them. The perfect pair to inform women about the disease, they dedicate each October to raising breast cancer awareness.

As this year their slogan is “Tous Unis Par Une Même Couleur” which translates to “All United by the Same Color.” Lighting up the Eiffel Tower in pink is the perfect way to kickoff Pink October. Besides lighting up Paris’ most iconic landmark in pink, the organization has also arranged a free concert at Trocadéro that will as well take place tonight, October 1. Though registration is mandatory, it is still open and available here.

Expected to lead the events will be Cristina Cordula, the ambassador of the campaign, Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris and Miss France 2019, Vaimalam Chaves. Since this grand kickoff event is to raise awareness, feel free to post and share any and all pink Eiffel Tower pictures you take or see.

We’re stronger together! Come show your support for breast cancer survivors and fighters!
