The exhilarating rush a fashion week newbie will never forget.

Attending fashion week in New York City, London, Milan, or Paris is sought after by pretty much everyone into fashion but it is not as easy as you think to be able to attend. Getting in any of the shows, presentations, or events requires either an invite from the brand or organization in charge or by having a connection that can get an individual past the security at the front entrance. Attending fashion week for the first time creates a wild wind of emotions for individuals. The initial reaction is overwhelming and super exciting being amongst fashion elites and bloggers along with being apart of something that many individuals do not get the chance to at any point in their careers or lives.

Tips and trick to get a newbie through fashion week:

-Do not be intimidated by seasoned fashion week goers.

-The fashion show will usually not start until a half hour after the time on the invitation.

-Be sure to take in the moment and not only be focused on taking pictures and videos to remember the experience.

-Keep calm and cool. Do not be afraid.

-Mental notes are way cooler than pulling out your paper and pen inside the show.

-Have fun and enjoy the once in a lifetime experience.

Arriving at the show, it is a wild semi-organized mess of photographers and guests arriving and getting their photos taken for street style credits. Newbies, do not be afraid to pull out the wildest, fashionable, and over the top items you have, because if there is anytime anyone can have no fashion limits, it is at fashion week. After getting in line, the nervous excitement fills up as guests get closer to security and as long as you have the invite you are fine to go right through. The feeling is a feeling of satisfaction when you know you do not have to wait outside or observe from a distance while only dreaming of what is happening on the runway. Once inside it is like a whole different world straight out of “The Devil Wears Prada.” Everyone is either mingling before the show begins or on their phones to act as if they are doing something important. As a newbie, it can be intimidating but do not let it be, just find your seat or if you are in standing room only, go to the designated area and keep your cool.

When the show finally begins, bask in the glory of what is bound to be one of the most unique and coolest experiences. Keep an eye out for Anna Wintour’s signature straight face or celebrities sitting front reacting to what they think is their favorite styles. The music playing in the background perfectly fits the clothing coming down the runway and everyone is keeping their composure with straight faces, sometimes checking their phone again during the show as though this is an everyday thing for them. Do not let them fool you. They most likely love being at the show as much as a newbie is to be attending. When the show ends, the majority of the crowd races out of the show in a hurry to hopefully make it to the next show but as a newbie most likely this was the only show you are getting to attend or the next one you are tasked is not until a little later so feel free to stick around the show venue and have a closer look.

Trust me, by the end of the experience you will be exhausted and ready for a nap but rearing to go to more shows and events for more fun.
