He's easy, breezy, beautiful, Coverboy.

Breaking gender norms left and right, 17-year-old James Charles has become Covergirl's first ever male ambassador. Katy Perry announced Charles as the new face of the brand through a surprise Instagram post, and was quickly followed by Charles' own post sharing his Covergirl promo, stating "I truly hope that this shows that anyone and everyone can wear makeup and can do anything if you work hard. I can't wait to share with you all what we have in store, but trust me when I say it's gonna be real good," and Charles, we are so excited.

For those of you who aren't already familiar with him, Charles recently went viral on social media with his senior portrait retake. Unsatisfied with the lighting on his first photos, Charles asked the photo company if he could take them again but bring his own ring light. After they agreed to these conditions, Charles was able to get his flawless highlight, prompting fellow Covergirl ambassador Zendaya Coleman to retweet his post saying, "You win."

Starting his Instagram page @JamesCharles just about a year ago, Charles has already accumulated a fan base of 726k followers with 108k on YouTube and 82.2k on Twitter. According to an interview with Cosmopolitan, Charles is a self-taught artist proclaiming that "YouTube videos and practice have taught me all I know. I've been watching tutorials for years now, so when I started makeup I did have a semi-idea of how to do things. Other than that, it's all been through experimenting and figuring out what works for me!"

In Marie Claire's article The Beauty Boys of Instagram, Charles joins famous beauty gurus Patrick Simondac, Manny Gutierrez, Alexander Rivera, and Alan Macias, to talk about their experience with makeup and their efforts to spread the idea that beauty is not just something for women. Charles explains "My parents started questioning me about whether or not I was transgender... It took a lot of thorough conversations to explain that it's an art form for me. I'm still confident as a boy and I will always be a boy. I can be confident with bare skin and with a full face."
