Junior Design Your Life Seminar

With only two semesters left, it's about time to get a headstart on your career.

Saturday seminars might not sound like your favorite thing to do, but AUP is giving Juniors the opportunity to learn how to live post-AUP life. Juniors have been personally invited by President Celeste Schenck and Dean of Student Development Kevin Fore to spend Saturday, March 18th together. The students have been asked to come with an open mind: be willing to experiment, play, be vulnerable, imagine, and test.

This workshop itself has been re-designed to better suit students. Last year, students such as Tommy Tomova went to four sessions spread over the semester to gain the tools to design her future career outside of AUP for when she graduates this May. Tommy states "The best part about the workshop was that it focused on a person's values and beliefs and taught them how to simply imply their personal vision...Furthermore, the seminars introduced me to various people in the AUP community that I had not met prior to the seminars and made some lasting connections in the field I intend to pursue."

There is no single "key" to success, instead, AUP is working to help you become aware of your values and passions. Design thinking is the focus of the seminar, which will install confidence and go beyond conventional academic disciplines. Tommy explains that this part of the seminar is important for any student because you don't get a chance to speak about your passions, goals, and dreams in a normal classroom setting. Tommy continues "The seminar gives you the opportunity to think about your career and what will be the best path for you according to your personality and vision of the world."
