Catch the modern art exhibition before it's too late.

The contemporary art fair Paris Internationale opened its doors to the public on October 18, but will only last for a total of five days. Rue Béranger is a somewhat muted street off of vital Place de la République in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. However, for those in the know, there is a four-level exhibition of contemporary art held at number 11, in a raw industrial setting. Welcome to the third edition of Paris Internationale.

Paris Internationale’s goal is to support a young generation of galleries and their artists. It is a collective initiative by five emerging galleries—Antoine Levi, Crèvecoeur, High Art, Sultana, and Gregor Staiger.

At the entrance, bouncers check all the bags, and then everyone has to note down their names on a list. Once done, a lady hands out a map and shows everyone to the elevator which gives access to the 4th floor, where the exhibition begins. Also, the exhibition is free of charge.

There are no stairs, as the building (a multi-story car park nicknamed "the screw") is made up of a long, steady climb which takes you from the fourth to the eighth floor. The setting gives a sense of continuity to the exhibition while you pass by numerous artists from 55 galleries hailing from 19 different countries.

At each stand, the artist is seated, along with a laptop, a few friends, or a beer. There are not that many people compared to the space available, which is convenient for those who want to dig deeper into the art pieces or perhaps speak to the artists.

As a fair made to encourage new artists and initiatives in contemporary art, Paris Internationale hosts artists from a wide array of backgrounds with many different forms of art represented. The art is sharp, fresh, but disturbing. According to the program, various talks are scheduled to take place during the exhibition. Although, the program varies from day to day.

The fair concludes on a rooftop terrasse, with cocktails and a DJ playing.
