The Brazilian inspired Art Bar, Club, and Restaurant you need to check out.

On the second Tuesday of every month, La Favela Chic hosts what they call a "Jam to the Wild"- a night where local musicians get together to throw a mini-concert of covers of the selected artist of the evening. In the past, they have done tributes to Michael Jackson, Kaytranada, Bob Marley, Sade, Amy Winehouse, Led Zepplin, Aaliyah and many other legends.

The musicians who come in are actually quite good and professional and rarely butcher the songs we all know and love. Come for a FREE mini-concert, eat at their restaurant where they offer Tapas, a Favela burger, Gambas and some Brazilian deserts. Or grab a drink at the bar and after the show, you can stay later into the night for the DJ set and dance until 4 am.

"Dance, dance on the tables, dance on benches, dance on tables before you get caught, dance in the bathrooms." - La Favela Chic

Recently on a Tuesday, they held a tribute jam to Solange- a visual artist, activist, singer, model, fashion icon and more, known for her most recent album, A Seat at the Table. A woman who at times was previously associated simply as the younger sister of Beyonce, Solange is so much more than just that- with a completely different style of music, fashion and voice in social activism and is a pure embodiment #blackgirlmagic. Nonetheless, today she owns her name and she does not need the Knowles to support it. You can see a short clip of part of the night here.

Overall, the night went really well and the covers were great. The turn out was pretty big and many people stayed there after the jam session.

Hear and watch one of her wonderfully directed pieces of art here

La Favela Chic is a Brazilian inspired restaurant, meaning you will hear the likes of the O.G Sergio Mendes, Jorge Ben, Astrud Gilberto, one of my favorites Seu Jorge and many more. There is art all over the place and it is very cozy and inviting. If you really are into Brazilian music then I would suggest attending a "Mecredi Do Bresil" hosted on Wednesday nights, it is one hundred percent Portuguese music only.

This is a place where you can get down on a Tuesday and you weren't even expecting it. When it is over, head outside at 4 AM to find a line of Kebab shops waiting for you with their flashing lights drawing you in for a late night snack. If you still aren't ready for the night to end just yet, you can walk over to Canal Saint-Martin and hang out with your friends a little longer.

You will hear some of the newer takes on classic Brazilian songs such as those produced by Sango, who has made some cool music out of old samples which are more trap and hip-hop-y. Hear a popular song produced by him which can give an idea of the newer kind of Portuguese/Brazilian music.  This is a style that you can hear played by the DJ's who try and keep the Brazilian vibe present whenever possible.

Nonetheless, if you are looking for a new place to check out in Paris on a weekday night or weekend, head on over to La Favela Chic. If the music and article didn't quite convince you, check out this promotional video below.
