Emerging Artists to Catch in Paris: September Edition
With an endless number of bars, clubs, and event spaces across Paris, it's hard to choose anything to do. The choice is even more difficult when looking for a night of live music, especially when trying to track down something new; it's impossible to figure out what you're looking for. Peacock has you covered, though: we've found a new band for you to discover every night of September.
Saturday 23: Body Clocks
Country: United Kingdom
Where and when: 8PM, L'Alimentation Générale. 64 rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, 75011
We all love a good British accent, but Bristol band Body Clocks perform a fully instrumental set as a duo. They take the expectations of electronic music to a new dimension, stepping away from the typical dance vibe to a musical, eerie adaptation of the electronic genre. But don't worry, you'll be sure to have an opportunity to drool over the accent when they introduce themselves.
Sunday 24: R5
Country: United States
Where and when: 7PM, Le Trianon. 80 boulevard Rochechouart, 75018
A classic pop-rock combo from a band heading straight for the commercial spotlight, as their music lends them an opportunity to fill the void in the music industry of lyrically advanced, musically rich pop. Be sure to catch them now whilst they're still a young band; there's nothing more special than seeing a band who is still working to identify themselves in front of your eyes.
Monday 25: Fazerdaze
Country: New Zealand
Where and when: 8PM, Le Pop Up du Label. 14 rue Abel, 75012
Ambient, dazed vocals which make you feel like you're in a dreamland, with soft yet effortlessly bold vocals from Amelia Murray, also known as Faderdaze.
Tuesday 26: SMWRS
Country: United States
Where and when: 7PM, Supersonic. 9 rue Biscornet, 75012
A mosh-pit inducing pop-punk-rock band who have taken over USA's one to watch lists, so catch them whilst they make waves in Europe and you can say you "knew them before they were famous." Watch out for their song about Miley Cyrus, because you'll leave the night chanting their chorus "Miley is a punk rock queen." A band who moshes with class.
Wednesday 27: Loney Dear
Country: Sweden
Where and when: 8PM, Le Pop up du Label. 14 rue Abel, 75012
An indie folk band straight from the place that's producing the best hits lately, but accompanied with a mini-orchestra that showcases their musicality and differentiates them from other folk bands you may have experienced live before.
Thursday 28: Soldout
Country: Brussels
Where and when: 7PM, Le Carreau du Temple. 4 rue Eugene Spuller, 75013
The electronic-pop might seem saturated right now, but when combined with live instruments the way Soldout combines the two methods of performance, make this band worth the while, so if you're looking for the next inspiration for innovation in live music, check them out.
Friday 29: We Insist!
Country: France
Where and when: 7PM, Petit Bain. 7 port de la Gare, 75013
Whilst touring musicians are always important to support, get involved with Paris' local scene with this French rock band. It's different to the rock music an American student may be used to, as We Insist! combines what would otherwise be dubbed as "country" instruments to their music. Rock-country. C'mon.
Saturday 30th: Mauno
Country: United Kingdom
Where and when: 8PM, L’Espace B. 16 rue Barbanègre, 75019
A creamy electric guitar to create a moody, mysterious sound. An artistically abstract band admirable for letting their audiences see right into their hearts and minds.
